About Dr. Schofield
Dr. Adam Schofield is a highly trained upper gastrointestinal surgeon specializing in weight loss, anti-reflux and general surgery.
After finishing his medical degree at the University of Calgary, Dr. Schofield completed an intensive residency training program in general surgery in Calgary, Alberta. During residency, he developed a passion for upper gastrointestinal surgery, most notably in the areas of bariatrics, anti-reflux surgery and esophagogastric oncology. This passion led him to pursue a two-year, sub-specialty clinical fellowship in upper gastrointestinal surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia, where he had the privilege of training with some of the leading experts in the field. During his time in Australia, he also completed a Master’s Degree in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Adelaide.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Schofield was recruited back to Alberta where he is currently an attending surgeon with the Central Alberta Bariatric Specialty Clinic. During this time, he has become the leading provider of the cutting edge single anastomosis duodenal-ileal switch (SADIS) procedure in the province.
His unparalleled leadership and clinical acumen was what made him an excellent fit for the Vital Surgical team and was subsequently brought on as the surgical director for Vital Bariatrics, where he is the highest volume private bariatric surgeon in western Canada.
Dr. Schofield’s depth of experience in complex upper gastrointestinal surgery and commitment to excellence allows Vital Surgical to offer a full range of primary and revisional bariatric operations, anti-reflux surgeries and general surgical procedures at the highest of standards.
